Maule Yarns

MAULE Yarns - 50g

This yarn has been produced for us by a small group of weavers from a small village in the Andean foothills in Central Chile. Wool is spun on a drop spindle and dyed using recipes handed down from their mothers and grandmothers to extract the best colours from the plants that they are able to find locally. The mainly hot, dry climate rewards the women with a range of plants that give bright 'summer garden' hues.

The yarn has been spun from the wool of the sheep most commonly reared by smallholders in this part of Central and Southern Chile; typically Romney Marsh or Suffolk.
